Watching Pawn Sacrifice anyone?

I haven't seen pawn sacrifice yet but from the reviews - I understand they've left most of the chess out and focused on the cold war politics.

One of the glaring mistakes is that they mixed up the English and Sicilian.

It is more of a great historical film than a chess film - but it's very nicely made.

For a more detailed opinion you'll have to wait for those who have seen the film.
Still I don't mind that. I don't think it woulda been good if it only focused on chess because people will get turned off because not everyone knows chess.
I really didn't like the movie because it didn't focus at all on any cold war politics like the trailer alluded to. It was basically fisher is a nut job but man could he play chess... the end, i don't like that account of events, it leaves nothing to speculation, and makes for a boring film.

Considering fischer once said that the US is "a farce controlled by dirty, hook-nosed, circumcised Jew bastards", and both the director and producer are jewish (the latter sporting a large hook nose), I'm surprised they alluded to his chess playing ability at all.

After analyzing matches and conversing with Fischer, Yasser Seirawan said "After September 23 [1992], I threw most of what I'd ever read about Bobby out of my head. Sheer garbage. Bobby is the most misunderstood, misquoted celebrity walking the face of the earth". He further wrote that Fischer was not camera shy, smiled and laughed easily, was "a fine wit" and "wholly enjoyable conversationalist".

Pawn sacrifice has as much to do with Bobby Fischer as did the movie Searching For Bobby Fischer.
If it was at all unclear I want it known that i agree with you dearprudence #5

GM Seirawan is right just look at this clip
This is not the nut job the movie pawn sacrifice portrays... far from it.
