A few days ago I reached my highest classical rating ever, which I think is 1616.
I stayed around there for another 36 hours or so, but as soon as I went slightly under 1600, there was no going back and right now I'm under 1490.
Why is it I seemingly cannot win one single game anymore? Should I rest for a while? Will it pass or have I lost all my chess knowledge?
I'm genuinely worried I can't get ever get over 1500 again with how bad I'm playing.
Pay attention to your games/positions.
Not your rating.
There's a really cheesy song, scripted for a really cheesy movie, that coined it in for stating the damn obvious. I want to forget the nauseating feel good fodder for simpletons because It makes me want to kill myself but you're welcome to search for the 'circle of life', so that you can share the pain you reminded me of.
What goes up, must come come down. Ying and yang. Everywhere that you succeed, some will fail......blah blah blah.
Even if you don't try (study) to get better, if you're at least methodic about your openings, your rating will improve, over time. By methodic, I mean keep using the same, obviously flawed, opening......
#3 OHHH that explains why my rating is dropping.
I play a3 resign 0-1
Whatever opening you play - stick with it. Make it yours. OWN it! That way you'll at least get a foot in the game. Then go to the next stage........
That's life. You owe me 50 quid by the way! Whilst you've been playing chess, I've been painting double yellow lines underneath your car.
Nobody ever said this game was fair.
This game is fair
Nope! This game favours people with time to spend. I doubt you'll be seeing someone that stitches lacoste labels to T shirts winning many titles.
#5 But I don't own a car?
I've been stitching lacoste T shirts for 20 years now.
Sniff.
Likely story! What's the problem? You're not insured to drive it? Just pay the ticket, dodging the insurance means I'll have to take you to court!
