Lichess should evolve itself to be a place for all mind games that can be digitised on this platform . Since Chess can be boring sometimes and though it's a great game and will continue to be but such a great website as lichess is must stay relevant and more inclusive . It can become a creative math puzzles , Animated puzzles , a platform to test our human brain against Artificial intelligence and a lot more . When i log into Lichess i can only wonder how functionally beautiful it is it's simply incredible . Lichess can become a great mind gaming platform . Even in its present form it will remain incredible nonetheless .

The codebase would be too hard to maintain with all the differences, just supporting some of the possible variants is big enough. The user interface would also be harder to use, with all the different games.
Putting effort on other games will also steal focus from the effort on the chess part of the platform.
A better approach is to just copy the code and replace chess with another gametype github.com/ornicar/lila
