People who give thumbs down

I never give thumbs-down reactions and I think they are usually of doubtful value.

Actually I have done it precisely twice. Once was a mouseslip! At the time I didn't know you could cancel an icon-reaction by clicking on the same one again, and all I felt I could do was give a thumbs-up as well, hoping that the poster would understand that as cancelling-out. The second time was when someone wrote a reaction in the game-of-the-month thread, in which we were supposed to submit our competition entries, suggesting that another player's competition entry was a result of cheating.

In my opinion it would an improvement to the forums if the site removed the thumbs-down reaction. A shortage of thumbs-up reactions, and/or someone's polite reaction pointing out any misinformation in the posting, provide the same function.

> @Letpchess :D u wrote a lot. also you were 20 years ago an Art student? And now you are a math teacher? I am alittle bit confused.

Yeah... I know I have an odd educational journey... Started out studying computer engineering... Took a lot of math classes... Have a minor in mathematics... Ended up changing to graphic design... Years later took child development classes emphasizing in helping children with Autism and entered a masters program to get a masters degree in child development...
I also have a certificate as a behavioral specialist for special needs kids... So, yes, a confusing path in education, but really I just studied things as life hit me... In the end, I work as a math teacher... in Russia...
And now I'm sure you're more confused, but that's about all I want to explain in a public forum.

I'm not sure what you mean
I take a thumbs down as a compliment.

I’ve got better things to be concerned about than some oik giving my comment a thumbs down.

Oh, yes, "here and there" describes me well. :-)

I am interested in a lot of things and I am always asking questions so I learn a lot as I go through life...

Funny story... Whenever I go to the doctor for anything, I always ask unrelated questions of the nurses as they are checking me in with the standard blood pressure, weight and height routines... I learned a lot that way just by looking at posters they had on the walls and asking questions. When my first son got his first real fever as a baby, I called the nurse health line, and gave my name and medical number and rattled off a list of things I had already checked with my baby boy so the nurse on the phone could decide if I needed an appointment. Before she asked anything about my son, she said, "Are you a nurse?" I said, "No, why?" She said, "You answered all the questions I was just getting ready to ask you." We both laughed in that moment... That was 20 years ago and I still remember it because it just reinforced in me this hunger I have for learning and the fact that you can learn a lot from the people around you if you just ask them things about their expertise.

Anyway, we have a saying, "Jack of all trades, master of none."
I am not GREAT at any one thing in particular, but I know a little about a lot of different things and I like it that way. It all blends together to make me who I am. ;-)

It's never too late to be happy you can imagine some happy things like making a good chess combination or putting a funny horsey icon on a comment and cheer up from how silly it looks.
