E pawn vs D pawn

"Both the e pawl and d pawns are very powerful"

Just like the rest of them. Not powerful at all.

what changes is the opening of the bishop diagonal. when you play D, bishop c is released, when you play E, bishop f. this is a very good question, because it can have a certain value to play this or that pawn, it is a choice, practical or aesthetic because the two are equal

Pushing the e pawn opens both the queen and the bishop diagonals, for more immediate attacking potential, but the e pawn is not itself defended.
Pushing the d pawn only opens one diagonal move, but the pawn is defended from behind by the queen.

So we can say that pushing the e pawn is more likely to lead to sharp tactical play, while pushing the d pawn is more conducive to positional play. These are big generalisations though, both pawns have all possibilities.
E is better than D, and D is better than E, but only when E is stronger than D, not when D is stronger than E.
But generally, E and D are stronger than D and E.

Hope that helps.
