Opponet time out, why draw?

This is by design, from FIDE rules
"...if a player does not complete the prescribed number of moves in the allotted time, the game is lost by that player. However, the game is drawn if the position is such that the opponent cannot checkmate the player’s king by any possible series of legal moves."

Your opponent loses because they lost all the time in a sudden death time control, however you are out of material as well, so it's a loss for both, therefore a draw - Were he not had ran out of time you would be the only person who lost, then it wouldn't be a draw but a win.
