Solid responses for black to 1. d4?

Nimzo Indian Defence is super solid. You choose which system suits you, Solid or crazy? Nimzo Indian Defence has it all.

Nimzo Indian is 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Bb4.

Opponent can avoid Nimzo Indian by playing 3.Nf3 but if that happens you can either play Queen's Gambit Declined with 3.d5 or play the solid and flexible 3.b6 which is called the Queen's Indian Defence, a favourite of Legendary player Anatoly Karpov, sometimes The Queens Indian can transpose back to Nimzo Indian thus it is a very flexible system.

In Nimzo Indian you can either memorise 20 moves deep theory or just play the first 3 moves and follow basic Opening principles and you will be fine.

The advantage in Nimzo Indian Defence is that you will always be ahead in development and it is perfectly playable in all levels.

If you want, I can make a very simple study about the Nimzo Indian Defence with 0 theory included and just following basic opening principles.
